New year and finally a new track from Franz Ferdinand… it’s different… slow chugging tempo, buzzing synths, but with that unmistakable Franz-style catchy chorus. Looking forward to the album… watch this space!

Bestival is nearly here… bloody great. Can’t wait. Best festival in the world I reckon… Great line up too this year

Ok I wasn’t there every year, but I was for 1995, 1999 and 2004. 1995 was amazing. Setting sun, the amazing Orbital sound coming from the stage and the energy of 50,000 up for it people. At one point I looked round and couldn’t see anyone who wasn’t dancing like a madman! What an evening.

This is an absolute laid back classic… I’ve played it to death over the last few years but still don’t get bored of those smooth piano chords and beautiful vocal.

What can you do… you just got to have it in there. Wa-wa-wah-wah, w-w-wa-wah-wah, wa-wa-wah-wah. And if that doesn’t want to make you buy it you probably should listen to it first.

Great track. Was never sure who it was by but it always pops into my head during those boring kitchen moments at house parties.

Errrr…. it’s brilliant! Italian Spiderman! Sung in English! And here is why… in 1964 Alrugo Entertainment went in to production of the feature film Italian Spiderman, four years later, the film was complete and the company was bankrupt. The film was considered so edgy and generally confusing that no distributors would pick it up – now the music from the film will be released by Soulful Torino records. The first single features “The Italian Spiderman Theme” a killer R&B Garage dancer with powerful Franco Franchetti’ breaks. On the flip the groovy “Bangarang” a superb funk tune with astounding trumpet solo.

Gorgeous track from Lou Rhodes – originally recorded when she was in Lamb, here it is a new acoustic version but a song this good stands out whatever the backing music!

I always loved this track, still sounds as good today.
