I suppose one thing that any potential customer of determinedmoth should know is that I’m a bit of a John Frusciante nut – the guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. His solo records, of which there are now 10 (soon to be 11 – read on), are some the best records ever to grace my collection. They allow a simple observation of the world. There are two types of people. Those who rate Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt as quite possibly the single most important musical episode in history, and those who think it’s a bullshit diatribe. If my house was on fire, I’d probably crawl over the cat and the dog to get the CD out unscathed. (If I had a free hand, I might grab the cat – sorry Fido).
So yeah – I’m obviously immensely excited by January 20th’s release of ‘The Empyrean‘. 9 new tracks, and a cover of Tim Buckley’s, ‘Song To The Siren’. Long time contributors included Josh Klinghoffer and Flea, and there’s also appearances from Johnny Marr, Sonus Quartet and The New Dimension Singers.

Track listing;
Our new album is taking shape. DFA guru Tim Goldsworthy in the producers chair – we’ve completed two recording sessions in Michigan, U.S. and the album is currently being mixed over in NYC also by Mr TG.

Holy crap! I wish we were selling this – I just got hold of it out of curiosity. Zack de la Rocha (who needs no introduction), and one-time Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore team up for this EP.
