Shock City Maverick by Beans

Label: Warp Records
Released: 18 Oct '04
Format: 320Kbps MP3
Genre: Alternative

Storekeeper comments:

Loved Beans on Vadim’s 90s project ‘The Isolationist’ (which is so good it rendered me paralysed for a week) but expected Beans’ solo effort to be a little inaccessbile. Little did I know that it’s pretty nice. Give it a go…check out ‘Diamond Halo Grenade’ for a taster.

Sorry, WRONG BEAT

I’ve put together a short mix of some of the dubstep I’ve been liking recently. Check it here then buy the tracks if you like ‘em.

Track Only

Mecha
Emalkay
Label: Boka Records
Released: 06 Aug '07
(Electronic, Dubstep)

Storekeeper comments:

Kicking off the mix is the track that got me into dubstep in the first place. Huge bass monster business from Emalkay.

Riddles Of Jah VIP

Next up Riddles of Jah keeps it simple. Just one mean bass line.

Wicked crazy vocals introduce some scary drill bass.

Technophobe
N Type & The Others
Label: Wheel & Deal Records
Released: 06 Jul '09
(Electronic, Dubstep)

Storekeeper comments:

I can’t get enough of the choppy vocal samples like the classic trick of technology vox in this tune. Reminds me of that old D n B tune that used the sample.

Explicit by Emalkay
Track Only

Explicit
Emalkay
Label: Dub Police Records
Released: 13 Apr '09
(Electronic, Dubstep)

Storekeeper comments:

More Emalkay…the huge, classic Explicit. This is fighting music.

Playtime Is Over by Wiley
Track Only

Bow E3
Wiley
Label: Big Dada
Released: 04 Jun '07

Storekeeper comments:

Okay, okay…this is grime but fuck it. I like it.

A Murder of Crows by Gunjack
Track Only

Murda
Gunjack
Label: Consume
Released: 20 May '09
(Dance, Garage, Dubstep)

Storekeeper comments:

Finally we get really mean. Gunjack’s Murda brings chopped up noise breaks together with so heavy bass and the ‘they call it murda!’ sample from Welcome To Jamrock.

Funk 45 Selection

Back a few years ago myself and Daz ‘Lord Chang’ Lee had a monthly club night called Funk 45. This is a selection of tunes that got play time there. Funk, Hip Hop and Reggae for the dance floor.

For more of a taste of Funk 45 check our Mixtape, Live At The Hat Party.

'Showtime' is a lost gem. I've always wondered why more people didn't get on it when it came out. Similar thing happened withe Extra Yard LP. Fair play for showing people the way.

Thanx 4 buying! Any thoughts on Shogun? I think they're the most exciting D&B label right now, the new Metalheadz.

Also, Ed Rush's Skylab is available digitally now! AWESOME.

Same here regarding dubstep; can't get into it, simply reminds me of how much I like d&b. I absolutely love Burial, but he's not proper dubstep anyway, more emotional ghostly UK garage.

Also, thanx for buying from Breakbeat Planet! Zinc's remix of "Night" is so good, transforms the sluggish original into the monster it was meant to be, don't you think?

Your 2 d&b picks are spot on for TOTW! Wow, such bangers, especially "Twisted 3rd Mind" rmx: hard-hitting noisy goodness. "Tight Fit" is on a nice old-school tip.

Have to explore both MDZ comp's now, then come back & snatch the best tunes.

As you hear it...Pump Up The Volume!

The Dubstep that’s been damaging up my speakers of late…

Cheeky Bass Corner

Because you’ve got to love amens and beefy bass. This is also going to keep all the tasty dubstep that’s appearing on PMS. A lot of other store’s are stocking the more intelligent end of dubstep but come here for the mean and scary stuff.
