This is one of a whole batch of Metalheadz that’s just come in to the PMS catalogue and I think one of the best drum and bass tracks ever. Hearing this in a club back in the 90s instantly got me into the genre. If know drum and bass you know this, if you don’t then listen. It’s incredible.

And for the bonus round, this huge title track form Harmonic 313’s latest ‘Dirtbox’ is a beast of track. Borrowing heavily from the dubstep sound but retaining a bit of hip hop head-nod, this tune is essential. It’s also got some Reggae dude saying stuff in it which is always a good sign.
Funk 45 Selection
Back a few years ago myself and Daz ‘Lord Chang’ Lee had a monthly club night called Funk 45. This is a selection of tunes that got play time there. Funk, Hip Hop and Reggae for the dance floor.

Just dug this out. It’s a mixtape that myself and Lord Chang did to give out oat our night, Funk 45 back two or three years ago. It’s pretty typical of the dancefloor friendly funk and hip hop that we used to play there. There’s some classics and some obscure gems. Give it a go:

EPMD have finally released their new album, and although I’ve only had a quick listen so far it’s sounding pretty nice.
While it’s just simply too expensive to do what they did back in the day and drop rhymes over huge breaks from Zapp and James Brown they’ve still retained some nice samples and a lot of the funk of their heyday releases – yes, they can still rap.
I’ll report back once I’ve had a chance to digest it more. What do you think?
